eggs benedict with bacon

If you’ve followed our blog for a while you’ll know how much we appreciate a good eggs benny, and this one did not disappoint. As you can see above, they really do not hold back on the bacon which was great as we could share it more evenly! The bacon was cooked perfectly for our liking- nice and crispy! We later found out that they get their bacon (and sausages) from the award-winning Henderson’s butchers.

roast beef with remoulade, tomato & roast onion

This was the first time either of us had tried Smørrebrød, which is an open sandwich on dark rye if you’re not familiar. We both agreed that the flavours were really interesting and that like many of the items on the menu, felt quite healthy which was a plus. The crispy onions on top were also a delicious addition to the dish.

baked eggs
in tomato sauce with feta & za’atar

This dish instantly stuck out to me when I was browsing the menu. It’s not at all similar to any of my normal brunch choices but the promise of feta, middle eastern herbs (za’atar), and oozy baked egg yolks were enough to sell me on it. And it was completely delicious. It also came served with a slice of sourdough bread and butter, perfect for dipping!

We shared

homemade carrot cake loaf

We couldn’t go to urban angel without trying something from their cake shelf. We hear their almond croissants are to die for, but sadly they were all sold out by the time we got there! Nevertheless, we ordered a slice of homemade carrot cake loaf, which went down a treat, especially with a fresh cuppa.
